SFMA Certification Course
The SFMA is designed for Medical licensed Professionals who want to implement a movement based approach to treating pain.
The SFMA Certification Course introduces the material for the foundation of the SFMA, The Big 7 movements and breakout assessments. The seminar also includes the introduction to the model of interventions directed towards the findings. At completion of this seminar, the health care professional will be able to evaluate painful movements, determine the source of the pain, and understand the role of manual therapy and neuromuscular exercise techniques to treat the painful condition.
Course Objectives
- Understand the importance of identifying dysfunctional movement patterns.
- Understand the importance of pain provocation during the examination process and that pain adversely affects motor control.
- Immediately apply information gained from the SFMA to select key impairments to address and design appropriate interventions to normalize dysfunctional movement.
- Describe the importance of assessing movement patterns in both the loaded and unloaded positions and how this information can be used to guide intervention.
- Link the assessment information to the initial therapeutic strategy and initiate the most appropriate treatment interventions (manual therapy and functional exercise) into the traditional rehabilitation program to normalize dysfunctional movement
Additional Information
- Hours of the course: 8am to 5pm (two day course)
- CEU’s will be provided for Physical Therapist and Certified Athletic Trainers. The course provides 15 CEU’s. Chiropractic CEU’s are dependent on course location.
- SFMA Certification course is a lecture/lab course. Please wear comfortable clothing you are able to move freely in. Exercise clothes are encouraged.
Advanced SFMA
You must complete the SFMA Certification course prior to taking the Advanced SFMA.
The Advanced SFMA provides greater depth of the breakout assessments and interventions.
In the Advanced SFMA seminar, you will spend two full days focused on interventions based on your findings in the SFMA. The majority of the course will be dedicated to understanding the 4 x 4 matrix and the neurodevelopmental progression it follows with examples and group activities for each of the top tier assessments. You will leave with a clearer understanding of treatment for StabilityAdditional Information

The SFMA Certification Course and Advanced Workshop must be completed in order. The time between the SFMA Certification Course and Advanced Workshop allows for the clinician to integrate the SFMA into clinic practice on patients, setting up a better working knowledge of application in patient care situations.UPCOMING SEMINARS
